Introduction
This blog is dedicated to my father's side of my family. My dad's family either migrated to York County Virginia or were among the first settlers of this county.
All the families that I am about to mention ended up in York County and stayed there.
My Eastern Virginia ancestry in the Greens from Gloucester County, the Davises and Smiths from Mathews County, the Wornoms from Northumberland County and the Hopkins,Huffingtons, Wainwrights and Messicks from Somerset County Maryland. The old York County names include: Charles, Hunt, Wilson, Shield and Reade. I also descend from Nicolas Martiau. Martiau was also an ancestor of George Washington, Thomas Nelson and Queen Elizabeth II of England.
Unlike my other local history blog,York-Poquoson History, this will be more about my family and genealogy and history.
